Squeal of Fortune Winner!

Once again, Joey D wins, yesterday’s Squeal of Fortune! Congratulations, Joey D, I can you hear you squealing from here and it’s making me a little nervous! Thanks also to Professor Dungpie, Jason Hwang, Gene1, biff and “Boris,” for participating!

Joey D

Kirk Douglas played the Randle McMurphy role on stage in 1963, but by 1975 his own son Michael thought he was too old to play the part and cast Jack Nicholson in the lead role causing a little family friction at the time. Kirk probably got over it when the movie won all five major Academy Awards for, Best Actor,Picture, Actress, Director and Screenplay. It’s based on Ken Kesey’s novel of the same name and Kesey was inspired to write this after working as a night shift janitor in a mental institution in California. Around this time he also volunteered to take part in a CIA mind-control program and was given peyote and LSD to ingest so they could observe people on the drugs and possibly use them for interrogation purposes. Kesey claimed to have written the first three pages of the novel after ingesting a large amount of peyote. Those crazy night shift writers!

So anyway, congratulations to Joey D on the win and we’ll see you next week on...SQUEAL OF FORTUNE!

In The Early Morning Brain

Well, we got through Monday and now it’s time for another early-ass edition of The Marty Wombacher Show. Once again, I’m going to try and post the show while I’m working the dayshift here at my job. If it gets nuts, I’ll post the stuff tonight, but just look for the red links at the bottom of the Home Page as always.

There’s great Home Page art by our resident artist “Boris” once again today, thanks Daddio! “Boris” is available for freelance work, email me if you need CD art, logos or anything at all and I’ll pass it on to “Boris.”

Daily Photo will be up soon, then Condensed Gossip, fishwrap and the Squeal of Fortune answer will be posted here soon. Check back often and don’t forget to bookmark the show on your computer.

Another one from Louisville Marty’s CRAPtastic series. I forgot all about this one, I think Jermaine was trying for his own “Thriller” here, but he fails. Maybe he’ll die next!

Thanks and hat tip to Louisville Marty! Truly CRAPtastic!

Squeal of Fortune!

This is a game I’m going to post every week on Mondays. Basically it’s kind of like Wheel of Fortune, sans Vanna White, Pat Sajak and cash and prizes. And contestants and a wheel. And a studio audience. Below I’m putting a sentence with some letters left blank and a clue. The first person to correctly fill in the blanks in the comments section wins. I’ll post their name tomorrow if there is one and they can squeal for joy and/or like a pig.

Okay, here’s the clue (no fair Googling!):

Kirk Douglas bought the rights to this film and gave let his son Michael produce the movie. Michael then went on to cast someone else in the lead role other than his father, causing some family anger. The film is an adaptation of a 1962 Ken Kesey novel and it won five Academy Awards in 1975. Below name the movie and the actor that played the role that Kirk Douglas originally wanted for himself.

Movie:

•N•   F••W   •V•R   •H•   •UC•O•’S   •E•T

Actor:
