The Yeah Yeah Yeahs are a great band to see live, I saw them in concert a couple years ago at the Bowery Ballroom and they were great! How I got the tickets is a weird story.
I came home one night and got my mail and there was a square, white envelope addressed to me, inside my mailbox. I opened it and it was a card saying I was comped for a Yeah Yeah Yeahs concert as part of Rolling Stone magazine’s 40th anniversary concert series. There was a phone number on it that you had to call and then leave your name. I wondered if I was really going to get in to this show, but I sure as shit was willing to try.
I took the night of the concert off, went to the Ballroom and waited in line and when I got up, I gave my name to a guy with a clipboard and he waved me in. And it gets better. I walked in, went to the bar and ordered a Budweiser. The bartender told me I could have that if I wanted, but Heinekin was sponsoring the event and they were free.
A free concert AND beer! Almost like winning the lottery and I still have no idea how the fuck I got that invitation.
